Why is Shopify On-Page SEO Important?
You can rank most of your Pages if your On-Page SEO is perfect.
On-Page SEO is making your shop easy to navigate for search engines along with easy to understand content.
When Google Crawlers Crawl over your shop they must be able to understand what it’s about.
A well-organized shop will clearly attract more visitors and generate more sales if your store meets their requirements.
Factors affecting Shopify On-Page SEO
1. Page Title and Description
Page Title is used by the search engines as the link text for a Search Result and to decide what to rank a page for.
Title Length must be over 70 characters. When the user clicks the title link they should be taken to the page that’s promised in the link text.
Avoid duplicate page titles within your website it will be difficult for search engines to index them. It’s better to keep the Title unique and original.
The title must be unique, shortly describing the page’s content, and with good keywords.
Whereas, Description/Meta Description is a paragraph of about 320 characters shown to the visitors in the search results.
It encourages the user to click on your search result and visit your store. It also must contain the keywords that match your product.
2. Internal Linking
Including links to your own site within paragraphs of text is the best for SEO.
There are two types of linking
- Internal: to your own site
- External: to other sites
Having Internal helps google to identify good links around your shop and discover pages with keywords.
You must use an adequate amount of internal links referring to useful articles that are relatable to the one you are linking to.
Just stuffing links to your article won’t help and may backfire with less user traffic. While adding an internal link to the page use good keywords in the anchor text.
3. Headings and Subheadings
Making proper use of <h1> headings and <h2>,<h3>,<h4>, <h5>,<h6> Subheadings etc.
As you might know, H1 is also called as Primary Heading. Each page must have only one H1 tag.
That means for a Product Page it will be the Product Name and for a Blog article, it will be the subject of the post.
For the Search Engine Headings are important for understanding what the entire page is about and Subheadings for dividing the page into various separate topics.
You can use the Subheadings according to the chronology.
4. URLs
The proper URL is crucial for the Search Engines. An ideal URL must look somewhat like johnsstore.com/products/black-canon-eos-rebel-t3i-dslr
this is Good SEO.
And, not like johnsstore.com/products/blackceost3idslr
this is Bad SEO.
As you can see in the latter URL one cannot understand what is it referring to? and it doesn’t make any sense.
Whereas, looking at the former URL one can clearly understand what the page content is about this helps Shopify On-Page SEO
